Windy can notify you before upcoming 1:1s with context and suggested topics, and can optionally send a last-minute reminder right before the meeting. 1:1 notifications are off by default for new users, so you can choose whether Windy should reach out before these meetings. You can turn 1:1 notifications on during onboarding when Windy offers them. You can also manage them from Windy features.

Notification toggles

All relationship-based 1:1 notifications are off by default for new users. You can enable or disable notifications by relationship type:
  • Managers — Notifications for 1:1s with your own manager.
  • Direct Reports — Notifications for 1:1s with people who report directly to you.
  • Indirect Reports — Notifications for 1:1s with people further down your reporting chain.
  • Peers — Notifications for 1:1s with people outside your reporting chain.

Managing notifications with Windy

You can ask Windy about your 1:1 notification settings from a 1:1 chat. Windy can show which settings apply, share the settings link, or update notifications for a relationship group or all 1:1s. Windy cannot set an override for only the person in the current chat. Use Windy Preferences or the employee’s settings page to configure a person-specific override.

Where can I manage my 1:1 notification settings?

Notification timing

Choose how far in advance Windy reaches out before a 1:1. This applies globally to all your 1:1s. Available options: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, 1 day, or 2 days before the meeting.
  • Default: 1 day

Last-minute reminders

Last-minute reminders are optional reminders sent about 10 minutes before an upcoming 1:1. When enabled, Windy sends a quick reminder shortly before the meeting and highlights recent agenda or notes changes — so if the other participant added topics after your original prep notification went out, you’ll have a final chance to review before walking in. Last-minute reminders are only available when your notification timing is set to more than 10 minutes before the meeting. If your notification timing is set to 10 minutes, Windy already reaches out right before the meeting, so the separate reminder is disabled.
  • Default: Off

Employee overrides

Override notification settings for specific employees. This is useful when you want Windy to always (or never) notify you before 1:1s with a particular person, regardless of your relationship-based defaults.
  • Always On — Windy will always notify you before 1:1s with this person, even if notifications for their relationship type are disabled.
  • Always Off — Windy will never notify you before 1:1s with this person, even if notifications for their relationship type are enabled. This silences both the regular prep notification and any last-minute reminders for 1:1s with that person.
To set an override, select Add Employee Override in the 1:1 Notifications section of Windy features. You can also set an override from an employee’s settings page.
