Your team can work with Windy in the language they’re most comfortable with. This article explains how Windy picks a language for each person and what to expect in the Windmill Dashboard.

How Windy chooses a language

Windy is multilingual. Windy works out each person’s language from two sources:
  • Past conversations. Windy looks at the language a person has used in earlier conversations with Windy.
  • Information from your company. Windy also uses language-anchoring context that your company may provide (i.e. a Pulse question written in Portuguese).
Windy then uses that language, plus its history with the user, when it reaches out and when it replies. This applies to Pulse surveys, 1:1 preparation, performance reviews, and conversations you start with Windy.

Changing the language Windy uses

If Windy uses a language you don’t want, reply in the language you prefer. You can also ask Windy directly, and Windy will record it in its memory:
@Windy please talk to me in Spanish from now on.

Language in the Windmill Dashboard

The Windmill Dashboard is available in English. Windmill does not provide translations of the Windmill Dashboard. To view the Windmill Dashboard in another language, use your browser’s built-in translation feature. Most browsers can translate a page automatically, or offer to translate it when it loads.
Your browser makes these translations, not Windmill. Some text can stay in English, and some translations may be less accurate.
