Select reviewees

A new cycle starts with no employees selected. The employee picker shows active workspace members who can take part in the cycle. Search for people, select them one at a time, or select everyone in the current filter results. Use All, Selected, and Not selected to check your list. Every cycle needs at least one reviewee.

Filter the employee list

  • Name or email: Find a specific employee.
  • Group or job title: Find employees with matching company data.
  • Manager: Find people who report to a specific manager, people in that manager’s reporting line, or people with or without a manager.
  • Relationship: Find your direct reports, indirect reports, manager, or skip-level manager when available.
  • Start date: Find employees who started within a date range, on or after a date, or on or before a date.
  • Tenure: Find employees in ranges from less than three months to more than 10 years.
You cannot use Start date and Tenure at the same time. Group is the only group-based filter. There are no separate Department, Team, Tag, Location, leave, contractor, or worker-type filters.

Saved participant data

Filters only change the people shown in the picker. When you use bulk selection, Windmill saves the people who match at that time. It does not add new employees who match the same filters later. Reviewees and reviewers must be active workspace members when you create the cycle. After you select the reviewees, use Review assignments to choose which review stages apply to each person.

Check the selection

The Review & create step shows each stage and its participants before you create the cycle. A missing manager appears as No manager. Windmill stops you from creating the cycle when a manager review has no manager or when a participant is inactive or archived. Select Copy All Assignments to copy the stage assignments to your clipboard.
