Notifications tell you and others how a pulse is going. They are separate from the reminders that participants get. To set them up, open the pulse, select Settings, and edit Notifications. Only owners with edit access can change them.

Slack updates while running

Turn on Slack DMs under While running to have Windy send the pulse creator progress updates. This setting is on by default for new pulses. For each run, Windy messages the creator in Slack:
  • When the first response arrives
  • About one day after the run starts
  • Once a day when new responses arrived in the last 24 hours
  • After the run’s deadline passes
Updates go only to the creator, not to other owners. Test runs don’t send updates.

Email results after completion

Turn on Email under After completion to send results when a run closes. A run closes when its expiration passes. Runs with No expiration never close, so they don’t send completion emails.

Recipients

Email addresses get the AI summary of all responses, even if they have no access to the pulse in Windmill. Check who you add before you turn this on.

  • Link only: A link to the report.
  • Summary only: An AI summary of the results.
  • Responses only: The individual responses.
  • Summary & responses: The summary and the responses.
The AI summary covers themes and key findings, then suggested action items. On anonymous pulses, the summary does not name the people who responded.

Post results to Slack channels

Turn on Slack channels under After completion and choose one or more channels. When a run closes, Windy posts “Pulse completed” with a link to the report. With Visible to all participants sharing, the post also includes a short preview.
Everyone in the channel sees the post. The link opens the report only for people who have access to the pulse.

Stream each response to Slack

To post each response to a Slack channel as it comes in, use live response streaming. It is set up separately from notifications.

FAQs

Yes, on named pulses. Set sharing to Visible to managers, then choose Managers as email recipients. Each manager gets a report on their direct reports. See Response sharing.
No. Reports that were already emailed still include the response. The response is removed from the pulse and from Slack.
