Windy reminds participants who have not submitted a response. You do not need to set anything up. Each run sends up to two automatic reminders to each person, unless you extend the deadline.

First reminder

Windy sends the first reminder 1 day after it sends the pulse. It goes only to people who have not submitted a response. If the deadline reminder goes out first, Windy skips the first reminder. This can happen with short expirations.

Deadline reminder

Windy sends one reminder near the deadline. It becomes due when 25% of the response time remains. For short runs, it becomes due 15 minutes before the deadline. Windy does not send it in the last 10 minutes. For example: A run with No expiration gets only the first reminder. If you extend the deadline, participants get a message about the new deadline. Windy can send another deadline reminder before the new deadline, but not within 48 hours of the last one.

When reminders are delivered

Windy sends reminders during the participant’s working hours, between 9 AM and 6 PM in their time zone. Windy also waits until the participant is active in Slack.
  • The first reminder waits for a weekday.
  • The deadline reminder can go out on any day.
If the reminder window closes before these conditions are met, the participant might not get that reminder.

Which pulses get reminders

  • Anonymous pulses: Yes. Automatic reminders work the same way.
  • Paused pulses: No. Windy sends reminders only while the pulse is active.
  • Test runs: No.

Change reminders

You cannot change the reminder text. To change the delay before the first reminder, ask Windy. There is no setting for it in the pulse page. To follow up yourself, send a manual nudge. See Nudge participants.
