Your values influence how Windy talks about your company and its culture across Windmill, including shoutouts, continuous feedback, and performance reviews.
Setting up your company values
Open Company values
Go to Settings → Company values in the Windmill Dashboard.
Add a value
Enter the name of the value (e.g., Customer First) and a short description of what living it looks like (e.g., We prioritize responsiveness, reliability, and tailored service for every client, no matter the size).
Add the rest of your values
Repeat for each core value. You can reorder, edit, or remove values at any time.
Where values are used
Your company values appear throughout Windmill, including:- Shoutouts: Team members can give recognition tied to specific values
- Performance reviews: Values can be referenced in feedback and assessments
- Continuous feedback: Feedback can be framed around the behaviors your values describe
- Windy interactions: Windy uses your values to provide contextually relevant suggestions
Integration with Shoutouts
Once you’ve set up your company values, you can integrate them into Shoutouts. This lets you prompt your team for feedback based on specific values—for example, “Who demonstrated Innovation this week?” This ensures recognition aligns with what matters most to your organization and reinforces a consistent, values-driven culture.Best practices
Keep values short and clear Use action-oriented language that’s easy to understand and remember. Make expectations tangible Write descriptions that show what living this value looks like in practice. Review regularly Periodically revisit your values to make sure they still reflect your team’s evolving culture.FAQs

Can I change my company values after setting them up?
Yes. You can edit, reorder, or remove values at any time from Settings → Company values. Changes are reflected throughout Windmill wherever values are used.
How many values should I add?
How many values should I add?
We recommend 3–5 core values. This keeps them memorable and actionable. Too many values dilute their impact and make them harder to reinforce consistently.
Who can edit company values?
Who can edit company values?
By default, only Admins and HR Admins can manage company values (as well as Company info and Company Knowledge). Workspaces can also grant this to custom roles. This keeps your organization’s core identity consistent.
Where did company values go? They used to be part of Company Knowledge.
Where did company values go? They used to be part of Company Knowledge.
Company values now live on their own Company values page (Settings → Company values). Company Knowledge is now a document library for the reference material you want Windy to draw on, while your name, description, and logo live on the Company info page.
