How does it work?

Under the hood Windy uses Organization Network Analysis (ONA) to reach out to employees at exactly the right time with the right context.

1. Windmill connects to your business systems (Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Github etc.)

2. We analyze millions of activities to find key moments and events that should yield helpful feedback - and who is best positioned to provide that feedback.

3. Via Slack, we'll reach out to team members, collect feedback while it's fresh, and aggregate the feedback for managers to better understand the exceptional value that everyone brings to the org and to shorten the feedback loop so the team can improve every day.

Why the Windmill way works?

1. Team members deserve feedback in real time. Don't wait for dedicated performance cycles, ensure team members have the opportunity to improve on a weekly basis.

2. Managers shouldn't have to drive this process on their own. Being a manager is hard, and it's difficult to keep track of the contributions of each team member. Windmill helps collect feedback from collaborators that you may have overlooked and who may not have been tapped for feedback in a traditional 360 review.

3. Keep your team focused on the right things. Your org should not have to stop dead in it's tracks to run a month long cycle. FAQs

How often will I be prompted for feedback?

Windmill believes that the more feedback the better. At the end of the day, Feedback is a gift. However, we are always optimizing around minimizing the effort required to provide feedback. We generally believe in giving feedback one or twice a week as a baseline.

Where does the feedback within Windmill come from?

Feedback is all around us. The feedback you see in Windmill can come from a few different places:

  • Windy can collect it - Windmill will solicit feedback from people at critical moments to ensure the feedback is timely and relevant

  • Your underlying business systems - Windmill can also identify feedback in other systems, Slack, Google, Jira etc. and pull that in as well.

When will I see the feedback I leave & receive via Windy?

The feedback is extracted from feedback chats every 2 hours. If you leave a piece of feedback with Windy in Slack, you will see the feedback in the platform on your profile (under "feedback given") within three hours.

Can I proactively give feedback via Windy?

Yes - you can always give someone feedback without Windy asking you. Just start a new thread with Windy and say

Hey @windy, can I give some feedback to __________________".

Can I request feedback from other teammate?

Yes - if you want to request feedback from teammates, you can ask Windy to go collect feedback for you.

Just open a new thread with Windy by writing in your chat

@Windy can you get some feedback about me from _______________".

How does feedback get delivered to me?

Managers will receive reports on 1st and 15th of every month, these reports will include any new feedback about their team. Team members will receive feedback reports on the 1st of the month
