FAQ's - Reports
How do Retro reports work from the POV of an engineer?
When you set up a Retro routine, Windy will reach out to your engineers to collect feedback on what went well/what could be improved after a recent sprint. The report will summarize the information from these conversations in a report, with inishgts and suggestions to help improve team performance.
Can I share Windmill reports or give access to other people?
Yes, you can share reports directly from Windmill or edit report access to add someone else from your organization, who will then be notified and have access to the report.
Can managers add private notes to their reports, which would only be visible to them?
Not yet, but we are planning to add the concept of notes. That will allow managers to put private notes in there. This feature will be available in a matter of weeks.
Does the custom report feature actively engage with the team to collect new data, or does it just summarize what's already present?
The custom report feature does not reach out to the team to collect new data—it only looks through available data from integrated sources and prior routines. If you need input from the team for a specific question, you should set up a Pulse or relevant routine.
Does the custom report feature in Windmill allow the user to ask open-ended questions (like OpenAI style), and does it query across different inputs and integrations?
Yes, the custom report feature allows you to ask questions in a style similar to OpenAI deep research. Windy will search across the available team and project data (including connected integrations like Jira, Slack, Google Calendar, etc.), aggregate sources, and generate a summarized report. The more specific the prompt, the better the output. Windy also footnotes results, showing where the data came from.
