Customizing Your Weekly Accomplishments

Windmill now allows you to customize how your weekly accomplishments are generated through accomplishment preferences. These preferences help guide Windmill in creating more relevant and focused accomplishment summaries that align with your professional goals.

Setting Your Preferences

  1. Navigate to your profile page

  2. Look for the "Weekly Accomplishments" section

  3. Click the settings icon next to it to open the preferences panel

  4. Select your desired preferences from the available options, such as:

    • “I’ve been working on hiring, and all my interviews are labeled ‘Calendly meeting with…’. Use that context to expose my hiring efforts in accomplishments.” - gives additional context Windy may not have access to

    • "My main focus for the next few months is developing the new accomplishments pipeline, that should be priority #1 in my accomplishments" - informs Windy of your priorities

    • "Focus on leadership initiatives" - highlights your management and leadership activities

    • "Emphasize backend development work" - focuses on your technical contributions

  5. You can always edit your accomplishments through chatting with Windy directly.

Best Practices for Setting Preferences

  • Be specific about context Windy might miss

    • "All my 1:1s are labeled as 'Sync with...' in my calendar - use this to identify my management work"

  • Highlight nuances in data

    • "I don't code, but I do merge PRs and manage releases. Don't misconstrue my activity in GitHub as implementation."

  • Omit routine tasks

    • "I update our pricing model every week, it's a routine task for me and should not be considered an accomplishment"

  • Combine work types with metrics when relevant

    • "When showing my code review work, include the number of PRs reviewed"

  • Update preferences when your work focus changes

    • "Starting February, I'm transitioning to the mobile team - emphasize iOS/Android contributions"

  • Keep preferences focused but not too restrictive

    • "Prioritize my technical leadership, especially around mentoring junior engineers"

Remember: Windy works best when given clear, specific context about your work and priorities while still having flexibility to surface important accomplishments that might fall outside those preferences.

Viewing Your Preferences

You can see your current preferences and when they were last updated directly in the preferences panel. The system will show you the last update date so you can track when you made changes.

Managing Preferences Over Time

Feel free to adjust your preferences as your role evolves or as you want to highlight different aspects of your work. The changes will be applied to future accomplishment generations.
