# Windy Preferences

> Customize how Windy interacts with you in Slack — adjust notification timing, prep behavior, language tone, and which features Windy will proactively help with.

Windy Preferences are personal settings that let you customize your experience with Windy. Each preference can be configured independently per channel (Slack or Web), so you can tailor your experience to suit how you work in each environment.

## Accessing your preferences

### In the web app

Navigate to **Settings > Personal Settings > Windy** to view and toggle your preferences.

Each preference displays channel icons (Slack, Web) as toggles. Click an icon to enable or disable that preference for that channel.

### In Slack

You can also manage your preferences by talking to Windy directly. Open a conversation with Windy and say something like:

<Callout icon="message" iconType="regular">
  List my current Windy preferences
</Callout>

Windy will display your current settings. To make a change, just ask:

<Callout icon="message" iconType="regular">
  Turn on the reasoning preference in Slack
</Callout>

## Available preferences

### Emoji reactions

When enabled, Windy adds emoji reactions to your messages in Slack. This gives you quick visual acknowledgment that Windy has seen and processed your message.

* **Available on:** Slack
* **Default:** Enabled

### Show reasoning

When enabled, Windy's thinking process and actions are visible to you. This lets you see how Windy arrives at its responses. Windy always uses reasoning to generate high-quality answers — this setting just controls whether you can see it.

* **Available on:** Slack, Web
* **Default:** Disabled

## 1:1 notifications

Control when and how Windy reaches out before your 1:1s — including relationship-based toggles, timing, and per-employee overrides.

See [1:1 notifications](/features/1-on-1s/notifications) for the full settings reference.
