# HiBob

> Connect HiBob to Windmill to sync employees, managers, departments, and employment data so your org chart and access controls stay accurate automatically.

## Benefits of connecting HiBob to Windmill

Connecting HiBob to Windmill keeps your employee directory and reporting structure always in sync — without manual updates. When HiBob is the system of record, Windmill automatically:

* Imports new hires as soon as they’re added in HiBob
* Updates manager → direct report relationships in real time
* Reflects title, department, and org changes
* Archives employees when they leave the company

This ensures reviews, 1:1s, and feedback always match your actual org — no spreadsheets, no double entry.

## Connected data

Windmill syncs the following fields from HiBob:

| Work Email                              | Used for login + account identity                    |
| Job Title                               | Displayed in profiles and review cycles              |
| Manager Relationship                    | Drives org structure and 1:1 pairings                |
| Department / Org Unit                   | Used for grouping and cycle assignment               |
| Employment Status (Active / Terminated) | Automatically archives former employees              |
| Start Date                              | Supports new-hire ramp reviews and onboarding timing |
| Gender                                  | Synced if provided by HiBob                          |

**Windmill does not sync compensation, performance score, home address, Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, phone numbers, pronouns, payroll, benefits, or employment contracts.** See [Personally Identifiable Information](/security/pii) for the canonical list of fields Windmill collects.

## Permissions

To enable the integration, the connecting user must have:

* **HiBob Admin** access
* Permission to read the **People Directory** and **Org Structure**

The connection uses a secure OAuth authorization flow.\
**Windmill never writes back to HiBob.**\
All data access is **read-only**.

## Managing employee + manager updates

If you need to:

* Change someone’s manager
* Move an employee to a new department
* Update a title
* Archive someone who has left

> **Make these updates in HiBob.**

Windmill treats HiBob as the **source of truth**.\
Any edits made directly in Windmill will be **overwritten** on the next sync.
