# Gong

> Connect Gong to Windmill so call recordings, transcripts, and meeting insights appear in 1:1s, recaps, and performance review context for sales teams.

## Benefits of connecting Gong to Windmill

Integrating Gong with Windmill brings real customer conversations into performance reviews and 1:1s — so coaching and evaluation are based on actual interactions, not fuzzy recollections.

* Automatically surfaces call activity and deal involvement without manual notes
* Gives managers context to coach on messaging, objection handling, and presence
* Ensures reps get credit for the work they do that isn’t always visible in CRM data
* Makes performance reviews more objective and grounded in real customer conversations
* Helps sales, CS, and support teams grow through shared context — not extra reporting

Windmill transforms sales and customer interaction signals from Gong into meaningful, ongoing performance insight.

## Connected data

When connected, Windmill securely reads the following from Gong:

| Data Type | How Windmill Uses It |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Call & meeting metadata (participants, time, length) | Shows activity levels, participation, and customer-facing involvement |
| Meeting transcripts | Attach to matching 1:1s, feed recaps and review context, searchable by Windy |
| AI conversation summary (when enabled in Gong) | Short summary, key points, and action items surfaced on 1:1s and in Windy responses |
| Public comments | Public-call comments are included; private comments are not synced |

**Windmill does not store raw audio or video.** Only the transcript and AI summary text are synced — the original recording stays on Gong.

## Visibility & Access

Windmill only syncs **public calls and comments** from Gong — private recordings are never imported.

* **If you have a Gong account:** You can view synced Gong data in Windmill
* **If you don't have a Gong account:** Gong data won't be visible to you in Windmill

This mirrors Gong's own access model — if you can see it in Gong, you can see it in Windmill.

## Permissions

Windmill requests **read-only**, scoped access through Gong’s API.

| Permission | Purpose |
