# Recaps

> Weekly AI-generated recaps in Windmill that summarize each team member's activities, meetings, and contributions across your connected tools and integrations.

Recaps are weekly summaries generated on a day of your choosing for every member within an org. They automatically parse through activities from your company's integrations with Windmill to create concise highlights of each person's work.

## What recaps are

Recaps are short, AI-generated summaries delivered on a schedule you choose.\
Windy gathers signals across your connected systems—collaboration patterns, meetings, updates, documents, and CRM activity—to create an accurate picture of each person's week.

Each recap includes key work from the past week. Recaps flow directly into:

* [1:1 catch-me-up sections](/features/1-on-1s/catch-me-up)
* Performance review packets
* Ongoing development discussions

## How recaps work

When the schedule hits, Windy:

1. Collects recent activity for each member
2. Generates a structured weekly summary
3. (Optional) Sends the recap to each employee for confirmation
4. Publishes the final recap to the manager and into downstream workflows

Recaps stay private to the employee, their managers, and anyone with delegated access to that employee. HR Admins do not automatically get access to an employee's weekly recap just because they are HR Admins.

## Turning recaps on

Recaps must be enabled at the company level.

  Recaps cannot be turned on for only a subset of members. They apply company-wide.

## User confirmation (optional)

User confirmation lets members review their recap before it’s shared.

When enabled:

* Windy sends a Slack message such as *“Here’s your weekly recap—want to make any updates?”*
* Members can add context, correct information, or approve as-is
* The finalized version is sent to their manager and stored for 1:1s and reviews

When disabled:

* Windy still generates recaps automatically
* They are delivered without confirmation

This is helpful if you want low-touch recaps that require no extra interaction.

## Where recaps appear

Recaps become part of each person’s performance narrative. You’ll find them in:

### 1:1s

In the **Catch Me Up** section of each 1:1, Windy pulls in highlights from recent recaps.\
This gives managers a quick view of what’s been happening without hunting through tools.

### Performance reviews

Windy uses past recaps to build the **Performance packet**, ensuring the review reflects work over time—not just what people remember at the end of the cycle.

### Employee profiles

Managers see recap trends, collaboration patterns, and important changes week-to-week.

## Editing recap settings

You can adjust recap settings anytime:

* Turn recaps on or off
* Change the delivery day and time
* Toggle user confirmation

    Yes. Recaps appear in the manager’s 1:1 workspace and performance packet. Windy may also notify managers in Slack depending on your setup.

    Windy uses signals from your connected systems (Slack, calendar, docs, tasks, meetings, and CRM tools like Salesforce) along with any direct-to-Windy updates from team members.

    Yes. Personal integrations like Notion and Granola can factor into weekly recaps when the relevant integration is connected by both the employee and their manager and both people have access to the underlying content. Windmill only uses connected, authorized data and respects source permissions.

    Recaps follow your existing visibility rules. They are visible to the employee, their managers, and anyone with delegated access to that employee. HR Admins do not automatically get access to employees' weekly recaps.
