# Filter and compare results

> Narrow pulse insights to a group, or compare groups side by side by job title, group, or reporting line.

Filters and comparisons help you find differences between teams. Both are on the **Insights** tab, next to **Search questions**.

## Filter results

Use the filters to narrow every chart to one population:

| Filter | Shows responses from |
| - | - |
| **Job title** | People with the selected job titles. |
| **Groups** | People in the selected [groups](/org-chart/groups). |
| **Reports under** | People in the reporting line of any selected employee. |

You can combine filters. For example, choose a group and a job title to see engineers in one office.

Filters use each person's current job title, groups, and manager. They don't use the values from the time the person answered. People with no value appear under **No job title**, **No employee group**, or **No manager**.

## Compare groups

Each question then shows one result per group. For Single Select and Multi-Select questions, a **Heatmap** shows the groups side by side.

## Anonymous pulses

Anonymous pulses protect small groups:

* Each run needs at least 3 responses before its results show. Until then, you see "Not enough responses yet".
* Groups with fewer than 3 responses can't be selected. Their options show "Requires at least 3 responses".
* If a selected group falls below the minimum, you see "Insights unavailable". Remove that group or choose different ones.

Filters on the **Responses** tab aren't available for anonymous pulses, except **Run**. See [Anonymity and privacy](/features/pulse-surveys/anonymity-and-privacy).

## Filter by answers with Windy

The **Insights** tab filters by people, not by answers. To filter by answers, ask Windy. For example:

## FAQs

    Yes, if each group has at least 3 responses. Use **Groups** for departments and **Reports under** for a manager's team. Smaller groups stay hidden to protect anonymity.

    Departments work as filters when they exist as groups in Windmill. If your departments aren't set up as groups, use **Reports under** or **Job title** instead.
