# Edit a live pulse

> Change questions, participants, and settings after you launch a pulse.

Owners with edit access can change a pulse after launch. Most changes apply to the next run. Runs that were already sent keep their questions.

## Edit questions

    Open the pulse and select the **Questions** tab. Select **Edit**.

    Add, remove, reorder, or change questions in the full-page editor. Select **Preview** to see the survey as participants see it. See [Questions and question types](/features/pulse-surveys/questions-and-question-types).

Question changes apply to the next run. Each run keeps a copy of the questions it was sent with, so earlier responses and results do not change.

### Legacy pulses

Older pulses can show **Legacy pulse** on the **Questions** tab. These pulses were created before structured questions. Select **Edit**, then save, to create an editable question set from the pulse's topics.

## Edit participants

Open the **Participants** tab and select **Edit Participants**. Change the participant selection, then select **Confirm**. See [Choose participants](/features/pulse-surveys/choose-participants).

Participant changes apply to the next run. To send the pulse to new people now, use [Send again](/features/pulse-surveys/send-again-pause-and-resume).

For a one-time pulse, you cannot remove people who already received the pulse.

## Settings you can change

Open the **Settings** tab and select edit on a section. You can change these settings after launch:

* **Name**
* **Schedule** — see [Send again, pause, and resume](/features/pulse-surveys/send-again-pause-and-resume)
* **Expiration** — see [Change expiration](/features/pulse-surveys/change-expiration)
* **Prompt**
* **Requester** — see [Owners and requester](/features/pulse-surveys/owners-and-requester)
* **Owners**
* **Response sharing** — see [Response sharing](/features/pulse-surveys/response-sharing)
* **Completion location**
* **Notifications** — see [Notifications](/features/pulse-surveys/notifications)
* **Live response streaming**, for named pulses — see [Live response streaming](/features/pulse-surveys/live-response-streaming)

## What you cannot change

* **Response anonymity:** You set this when you create the pulse. It never changes. See [Named and anonymous pulses](/features/pulse-surveys/named-and-anonymous-pulses).
* **Completed pulses:** You cannot edit questions, participants, or most settings. You can still change owners and the expiration.
* **Archived pulses:** A deleted pulse cannot be edited.
* **Sent one-time pulses:** After a one-time pulse is sent, you cannot edit its questions or most settings. The pulse shows **This pulse has already been sent and cannot be edited**. You can still edit participants, owners, and the expiration.

## FAQs

  <Accordion title="I sent a named pulse by mistake. Can I make it anonymous?">
    No. Anonymity is fixed when you create the pulse. Create a new pulse and choose **Anonymous** in the **Pulse anonymity** step. Then pause or delete the first pulse.
