# Duplicate and delete a pulse

> Rename, copy, or delete a pulse from the Pulse actions menu.

Use the **Pulse actions** menu to rename, duplicate, or delete a pulse. The menu is the three-dot button at the top of the pulse page. It also shows on each row in **Manage pulses**.

Only owners with edit access see this menu.

## Rename a pulse

Select **Pulse actions**, then **Rename pulse**. Enter the new name and select **Save**. The new name shows in Slack and in your results.

## Duplicate a pulse

    In **Duplicate pulse**, enter a **Pulse name**. Select **Duplicate**.

    Windmill opens the **Settings** tab of the new pulse. Review the settings before you launch it.

### What the copy includes

The copy includes the questions, description, prompt, icon, participants, and anonymity setting. It also copies response sharing, completion location, expiration, reminder timing, requester, notifications, email reports, and live response streaming. The other owners of the original pulse become owners of the copy.

The copy does not include the schedule, runs, or responses. It starts as a **Draft**, so nothing is sent until you launch it.

### When to duplicate

* **Test again after launch:** **Test pulse** is available only before launch. Duplicate the pulse to get a new draft, then send yourself a test. See [Test a pulse](/features/pulse-surveys/test-a-pulse).
* **Run the pulse for a different group:** Duplicate the pulse, then change its participants.
* **Start over with new questions or settings:** Keep the original results, and launch a new pulse with your changes.

A copy always has the same anonymity setting as the original. To use a different setting, create a new pulse. See [Named and anonymous pulses](/features/pulse-surveys/named-and-anonymous-pulses).

## Delete a pulse

    Type the pulse name exactly, including capitalization and spaces.

    Select **Delete pulse**.

Deleting a pulse removes it from Pulse lists and stops future runs. You cannot undo this in Windmill. If you want to keep the results, [export the responses](/features/pulse-surveys/responses-runs-and-exports) first.

To stop future runs but keep the pulse, [pause it](/features/pulse-surveys/send-again-pause-and-resume) instead.
