# Windy and review context

> Refer to the context report, feedback, and notes while you write a review.

## Context report

You can refer to the **Context report** in the side panel while you write your answers. Use it to find examples of work, feedback, and results from the review period.

Self, peer, upward, and manager reviews can include this AI-generated report. It uses only information you can access:

* **Self reviews:** Your work, goals, feedback, recognition, 1:1s, and previously shared reviews.
* **Peer and upward reviews:** Shared work and records you can access about the person.
* **Manager reviews:** Submitted self, peer, and upward feedback, previously shared reviews, your 1:1s and private notes, and other work records you can access.

For peer and upward reviews, the report describes the work you did with the person. It helps you remember examples. It does not rate the person or suggest what to write.

Only the person who writes the review can read the context report. The reviewee does not see it, and it is not part of the review packet or a calibration. Select **Context report options** to select **Copy as markdown** or **Download PDF**.

## Use the side panel

You can also read feedback, 1:1s, and notes in the side panel. The tabs shown depend on the review type and the information in Windmill:

* **Self reviews:** Context report, Windy chat, and 1:1s.
* **Peer reviews:** Context report, Windy chat, and your private notes about the person.
* **Upward reviews:** Context report, Windy chat, shared 1:1s, and your private notes about the person.
* **Manager reviews:** Context report, Windy chat, Self review, Peer reviews, Upward reviews, 1:1s, Private notes, Past reviews, and Calibration.

A tab appears only when the related information or feature is available. The **Context report** can be empty if no report exists.

## Use Company Knowledge

Windy can use relevant Company Knowledge, such as a career framework, expectations document, or review guide. Job title and level help Windy select material that applies to the reviewee. Windy leaves out material that does not clearly apply.

Company Knowledge provides context. It does not replace the review questions.

## Write with Windy

Self, peer, and upward review chats are available in Slack and on the review page. Manager review chat is inside Windmill.

Windy and the form use the same saved answers. Windy can read drafts and recent edits, save changes, and submit after you give explicit approval.

Private notes remain visible only to their author in the context panel. You can edit all answers before submission. Context becomes part of the submitted review only when you use it in an answer and submit or resubmit.

## Use review page controls

Select **View answer history** to inspect or restore an earlier version of an answer. Select **Review actions** to restart or reset the review.

* **Restart Review:** Clears your saved answers and returns you to the start screen. Earlier answers stay in answer history.
* **Reset:** Generates new context and keeps your answers. Select what to generate again: **Context report**, **Observations**, or **Resend Chat**. New context can take up to 30 minutes.

Managers can switch between combined peer or upward Insights and individual responses. Cycle admins use Windmill to lock manager reviews and share submitted answers with employees.
