# Test a review cycle

> Check a review cycle before you run it with your company.

## Purpose of a test cycle

Use a test cycle to check your questions, stages, assignments, messages, and review packets. Add a small group of participants so you can see what each person will experience.

## What is different

A test cycle works like an official cycle. It uses the same settings. The people you select get the same review tasks, Windy chats, and emails as they would in an official cycle. Tell them that the cycle is a test.

The difference is what happens to the results. Test cycle results are not used in:

* 1:1s or later Windy conversations.
* Review context for later cycles.
* Past-cycle comparisons in calibration.
* Company stats.

The test cycle's own progress pages and review packets still show its results.

To change a test cycle to an official cycle, or the opposite, open the cycle settings and change the **Cycle type**.

## Clean up the test

When you finish testing, open **Configure cycle > Settings** and select **Delete cycle**. This deletes the test cycle and all its reviews, progress, and calibrations. You cannot undo this.
